Mini Biography

Born: 3 June 1987, Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. 

Michelle Keegan grew up in a close-knit family, she is the daughter of Michael Keegan and Jackie Turner and has a younger brother named Andrew. Michelle’s heritage is diverse, with Irish roots from her father’s side and with Gibraltarian ancestry from her mother’s lineage. Her seven-times great-grandfather emigrated to Gibraltar from Genoa, Italy.

Michelle Keegan attended St Patrick’s RC High School in Eccles, where she began to nurture her passion for acting. After completing her secondary education, she pursued further studies at the Manchester School of Acting, a decision that marked the beginning of her professional journey in the entertainment industry.

While studying, she worked various jobs to support herself, including a position at Selfridges in the Trafford Centre and as a check-in agent at Manchester Airport.

Michelle Keegan’s breakthrough role came in 2008 when she was cast as Tina McIntyre in the long-running ITV soap opera “Coronation Street” . This role was significant, as she was selected from over 900 auditionees, showcasing her exceptional talent. During her time on the show, which lasted until 2014, Keegan appeared in more than 800 episodes, earning critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. Her character, Tina, was involved in several dramatic storylines, including a surrogate pregnancy and tumultuous relationships.

Following her success on “Coronation Street”, Keegan  expanded her repertoire by taking on various roles in television and film. She starred in the BBC series “Ordinary Lies” in 2015, where she played the character Tracy and later took on a leading role in the military drama “Our Girl”, which aired from 2016 to 2020.  In addition to her television work, Michelle has appeared in the comedy series “Brassic” and the Netflix thriller “Fool Me Once” , which has garnered significant attention.

In her personal life, Michelle Keegan has experienced both public relationships and a high-profile marriage. She was previously engaged to Max George, a member of the band The Wanted, but the couple ended their relationship in 2012. In 2013, she began dating reality TV star Mark Wright and the couple became engaged later that year. They married on May 24, 2015, in a lavish ceremony that captured media attention and the hearts of fans.

Michelle Keegan’s personal experiences have also shaped her public persona. She has spoken candidly about her struggles with imposter syndrome, particularly during her early days on “Coronation Street” . Despite her success, she has expressed moments of doubt regarding her place in the industry. However, her resilience and determination have allowed her to overcome these challenges, inspiring many of her fans.
