Mini Biography

Born: 20 March 1967, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England. 

Marc Warren’s passion for performance emerged early, leading him to study drama at the East 15 Acting School. Though he left before graduating due to an unorthodox request to embody “the colour orange,” his determination to pursue acting remained unwavering.

Marc Warren’s professional journey began on the stage in 1986 with “Stags and Hens” at the Northampton Theatre Royal. He honed his craft in various theatrical productions, showcasing his versatility in plays like “Kes,” “Kingdom of Earth,” and the timeless classic “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Television became Warren’s springboard to national recognition. In 2001, he landed a role in the critically acclaimed miniseries “Band of Brothers,” portraying the brave soldier Albert Blithe. This marked the beginning of a string of captivating performances. From 2003 to 2007, he charmed audiences as the witty and resourceful Danny Blue in the con-artist drama “Hustle”.

In the dark comedy fantasy film “Hogfather” (2006), he took on the role of the villainous Jonathan Teatime, showcasing his range in a different realm. He visited the world of “Doctor Who” in 2006, playing Elton Pope, a character with a unique connection to the Doctor.

His career continued to flourish with prominent roles in “Mad Dogs” (2011-2013), where he played the enigmatic Rick, and “The Musketeers” (2014), where he donned the garb of the cunning Comte de Rochefort. In the critically acclaimed miniseries “Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell” (2015), he embodied the enigmatic Gentleman, adding another layer of intrigue to his filmography.

More recently , Marc Warren stars as the charismatic detective Piet Van der Valk in the rebooted series “Van Der Valk.”

Beyond the screen, Warren is a man of varied interests. He is fascinated by the art of magic, particularly sleight of hand and mentalism. He has even dabbled in the world of mind reading, adding another dimension to his already captivating persona.
