Mini Biography

Born: 5 February 1969, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales. 

Growing up in Port Talbot, South Wales, Michael Sheen discovered his passion for acting during his teenage years. He attended Glan Afan Comprehensive School where he actively participated in school productions that showcased his natural flair for the craft. Recognising his potential, Sheen went on to study drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.

One of Sheen’s most notable recent projects is “Good Omens,” a fantasy-comedy television series based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. In this highly acclaimed show released in 2019 by Amazon Prime Video/BBC Two collaboration, Sheen portrays Aziraphale, an angel who teams up with David Tennant’s character Crowley, a demon to prevent the impending apocalypse.

Sheen’s portrayal of Aziraphale received widespread praise from critics and fans alike due to his ability to capture both humor and depth within the character. His chemistry with Tennant played a significant role in making “Good Omens” such a successful series among viewers around the world.

Another remarkable project featuring Sheen is “To Provide All People,” a powerful and thought-provoking drama aired in 2018. In this BBC television film, Sheen plays the role of a doctor who reflects on his career while caring for patients at various stages of life.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic that led to widespread lockdowns and theatre closures, Sheen collaborated with fellow actor David Tennant for the series “Staged.” This innovative show premiered in 2020 and is filmed entirely via video calls during quarantine.

“Staged” offers an entertaining glimpse into the lives of two actors attempting to rehearse a play remotely under challenging circumstances. Sheen’s comedic timing shines through as he effortlessly portrays exaggerated versions of himself alongside Tennant’s character.

Michael Sheen has been in several high-profile relationships over the years. He has a daughter, Lily Mo Sheen, with actress Kate Beckinsale. After their relationship ended, he dated actresses Rachel McAdams and Sarah Silverman. Since 2019, he has been in a relationship with Swedish actress Anna Lundberg. They have two children together, Lyra and Mabli.
