Born Emun John Mohammadi, Emun Elliott was raised in Duddingston, Portobello. His mother is Scottish and his father is of Persian lineage. His formative years included attending George Heriot’s School. He initially embarked on a degree in English literature and French at the University of Aberdeen, but his passion for performing arts led him to depart after a year. He subsequently pursued formal acting training at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, now known as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating in 2005.

Emun Elliott’s career has encompassed a diverse range of roles across film, television and theatre. Early television appearances included “Monarch of the Glen” and “Paradox”, where he played the lead role of Dr. Christian King. He gained further recognition for his performances in “Threesome”, “The Paradise”, and “Guilt”. On the big screen, he has featured in significant productions such as Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, alongside films like “Black Death” and “Filth”. His stage work includes a notable run in the critically acclaimed “Black Watch” with the National Theatre of Scotland, which he performed for over two years and a Broadway debut in “The Rose Tattoo”.

While much of Emun Elliott’s personal life remains private, he has spoken about his initial shyness and how acting provides an outlet for expressing himself. He has also discussed his love for travel, inspired by his character’s journeys in “The Paradise” and his appreciation for the cultural experiences it offers.
