Asim Chaudhry is a British comedian, writer, director and actor who rose to fame with his role as Chabuddy G in the BBC mockumentary series People Just Do Nothing, which he co-created with his college friends. He has won several awards and nominations for his comedy performance and writing.
Asim Chaudhry was in Hounslow, London, to a Pakistani Muslim family. His mother is from Karachi and his father is from Lahore. He attended Islamic summer schools during his childhood. He developed an interest in comedy and filmmaking at a young age, and made a play parodying The Godfather, called The Poppadom Father, in high school.
He met Hugo Chegwin, Steve Stamp and Allan Mustafa at a media studies course in college and they started making YouTube videos about a fictional pirate radio station called Kurupt FM. The videos caught the attention of producer Ash Atalla, who commissioned them to make People Just Do Nothing for BBC Three. The show ran for five series from 2014 to 2018, and was followed by a film, People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan, in 2021. Asim Chaudhry also wrote a book, How To Be a Man, under the name of his character Chabuddy G, and produced music as part of Kurupt FM.
Besides People Just Do Nothing, Asim Chaudhry has also appeared in other TV shows and films, such as Hoff the Record, Taskmaster, Click & Collect, Happy New Year, Colin Burstead, Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. He wrote and directed a short film, Love Pool, which premiered at the London Film Festival in 2018.
Asim Chaudhry is married and has a daughter. He lives in London and is a fan of Arsenal F.C. He is also involved in various charitable causes, such as Comic Relief and Stand Up to Cancer.
