Sam Claflin, born Samuel George Claflin grew up in Norwich, Norfolk. His father, Mark, worked as a finance officer, while his mother, Sue, was a teaching assistant. Claflin initially aspired to become a professional footballer, but a severe ankle injury during his youth led him to reconsider his path. Encouraged by his parents and a teacher who recognised his talent during a school play, Claflin pursued acting, enrolling in Performing Arts at Norwich City College in 2003. He later graduated from the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2009.

Sam Claflin’s acting career began with television roles in 2010, including appearances in “The Pillars of the Earth” and “Any Human Heart.” His film debut came in 2011 with “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” where he played Philip Swift. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Finnick Odair in “The Hunger Games” series (2013–2015). Other notable film roles include Will Traynor in “Me Before You” (2016), Richard Sharp in “Adrift” (2018) and appearances in “Snow White and the Huntsman” (2012) and “Love, Rosie” (2014). On television, Claflin impressed audiences with his portrayal of Oswald Mosley in “Peaky Blinders” (2019–2022) and Billy Dunne in “Daisy Jones & The Six” (2023), earning a Golden Globe nomination for the latter.
In his personal life, Sam Claflin married actress Laura Haddock in 2013, with whom he shares two children. The couple separated in 2019, and Claflin has since spoken candidly about the challenges of single parenthood and his journey of self-discovery. He is currently in a relationship with model Cassie Amato.
