Mini Biography

Born: 27 April 1976, Dulwich, London, England. 

Sally Hawkins was born into a creative family, with her father being a renowned playwright and her mother working as a children’s book author and illustrator.

After completing her primary education, Hawkins enrolled at the James Allen’s Girls’ School, where she further developed her acting skills and participated in various school productions.

Her breakthrough came in 2005 when she starred in Mike Leigh’s critically acclaimed film, “Happy-Go-Lucky.” In this role, Hawkins portrayed Poppy, a free-spirited and optimistic schoolteacher, earning her widespread recognition and numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
