Born: 29 September 1972, Boston, Lincolnshire, England.Â
Robert Webb attended Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School and later studied English at Robinson College, Cambridge. Webb’s comedic journey began during his time at Cambridge University, where he joined the renowned Cambridge Footlights comedy troupe. It was here that he met his future comedy partner, David Mitchell. Their successful collaboration would continue throughout their careers.
One of Webb’s most notable roles came in the form of the award-winning sitcom “Peep Show” (2003-2015), where he played the lovable yet socially awkward character, Jeremy Usborne. The show garnered critical acclaim and developed a cult following, solidifying Webb’s status as a comedic talent.
Webb and Mitchell also created and starred in the sketch comedy show “That Mitchell and Webb Look” (2006-2010). Known for their offbeat humor and memorable characters, the duo’s sketches became popular with audiences and further showcased Webb’s comedic prowess.
Beyond television, Webb has also made appearances in various films, including the comedy “Confetti” (2006) and the romantic comedy “The Wedding Video” (2012). He has also lent his voice to animated films such as “The Amazing World of Gumball” and “Back to the Outback.”
In addition to his acting career, Webb is an accomplished writer. He has co-authored several books with David Mitchell, including the critically acclaimed memoir “How Not to Be a Boy” (2017), which delves into his personal experiences and reflections on masculinity.
Webb has also appeared on various panel shows, such as “Would I Lie to You?” and “QI,” showcasing his wit and improvisational skills.
