Max Irons was born into a family deeply rooted in the theatrical world. His father, Jeremy Irons, is a renowned English actor, and his mother, Sinéad Cusack, is an Irish actress of equal acclaim. Surrounded by the vibrancy of stage performances and the allure of storytelling, Max’s passion for acting ignited early on.
Despite his family’s theatrical heritage, Max Irons faced challenges in his education, grappling with dyslexia, a learning disability that affects reading and writing. However, he persevered, determined to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. After completing his schooling at the Dragon School in Oxford and the Bryanston School in Dorset, he enrolled at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Irons’s professional acting career began in 2004 with a minor role in the drama film “La diva Julia,” starring alongside his father. He continued to build his resume with appearances in stage productions like “Oedipus,” “The Revenger’s Tragedy,” and “The Cherry Orchard”.
His breakthrough came in 2011 with the role of Henry Lazar in the gothic fantasy film “Red Riding Hood,” opposite Amanda Seyfried. The film’s success propelled him into the limelight, and he went on to secure notable roles in various projects, including the period drama “The White Queen”.
In 2017, Irons stepped into the spotlight as the lead actor in the historical drama “Bitter Harvest,” which chronicled the Ukrainian famine of the 1930s. His portrayal of Yurii, a Ukrainian farmer struggling to survive amidst the Soviet regime’s oppressive policies, garnered critical acclaim, cementing his position as a versatile and commanding actor.
Max Irons’s television career gained momentum with his portrayal of Joseph Turner in the spy thriller series “Condor,” which ran for two seasons from 2018 to 2020.
In 2013, Max Irons initiated a romantic relationship with Sophie Pera, who serves as the fashion director for Tatler magazine. They tied the knot in Oxfordshire on 30 November 2019. The couple welcomed a daughter into their lives in 2023.
