Born: 28 November 1961, Wimbledon, London, England. 

Martin Clunes studied at the Royal Russell School and later attended the Arts Educational School in London. Clunes embarked on his acting career with notable early roles in television dramas such as “The Professionals” and “Doctor Who.” However, it was his portrayal of Gary Strang in the popular sitcom “Men Behaving Badly” that catapulted him to widespread recognition.

Clunes continued to showcase his range as an actor by taking on diverse roles throughout his career. From playing Doc Martin Ellingham in the eponymous series to embodying Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic detective Sherlock Holmes in “Arthur & George,” he has demonstrated impeccable versatility and depth.

Beyond acting, Clunes’ love for animals led him to host several wildlife documentaries such as “Martin Clunes: Islands of Britain” and “Martin Clunes: A Man and His Dogs,” showcasing both his passion for nature conservation and innate curiosity about the animal kingdom.

Throughout his journey, Clunes has received numerous accolades including BAFTA nominations for Best Comedy Performance. He is admired not only for his exceptional talent but also for being a dedicated philanthropist supporting charities like Riding for Disabled Association (RDA) and British Heart Foundation.
