Born: October 17, 1966, Sedgefield, County Durham, England.

Mark Gatiss is an English actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He is best known for his work on the BBC series “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock.”

Gatiss began his career in the 1990s as a member of the comedy group “The League of Gentlemen,” which he co-created with Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, and Jeremy Dyson. The group’s dark and surreal humor earned them a cult following and led to a successful TV series and a feature film.

In addition to his work with “The League of Gentlemen,” Gatiss has written and acted in numerous other TV shows and films, including “Doctor Who,” “Sherlock,” “Game of Thrones,” and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” He has also written several novels and plays, including the critically acclaimed “The Vesuvius Club.”

Gatiss is a lifelong fan of horror and science fiction, and his work often reflects this passion. He has written and presented several documentaries on the history of horror and science fiction, including “Horror Europa” and “The Story of Science Fiction.”

In addition to his creative work, Mark Gatiss is also a prominent LGBTQ+ activist and has spoken openly about his own experiences as a gay man. He has been involved in several campaigns to promote LGBTQ+ rights and has been recognised for his contributions to the community.
