Mini Biography

Born: 9 March 1978, Hounslow, London, England. 

Katherine Parkinson developed an early interest in the performing arts and attended The Tiffin Girls’ School in Kingston upon Thames before studying Classics at St Hilda’s College, Oxford.

After graduating from Oxford, Parkinson enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), and met her future husband, actor Harry Peacock. Her professional acting career began in 2002 when she appeared in the play “The Age of Consent” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Parkinson’s breakthrough role came in 2007 when she was cast as Jen Barber in the Channel 4 comedy series “The IT Crowd.” The show, which ran for four seasons, earned her widespread recognition and critical acclaim, including two British Comedy Award wins for Best TV Actress. Her performance as Jen, a well-meaning but socially awkward IT worker, showcased her comedic timing and ability to deliver sharp and witty dialogue.

In addition to her work in television, Parkinson has also established herself as a successful stage actress. She has appeared in numerous productions, including “The Seagull” (2007), “Cock” (2009), and “Home, I’m Darling” (2018), for which she received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play.

Katherine Parkinson’s personal life has also been in the spotlight. She married Harry Peacock in 2009, and the couple have two daughters, Dora and Gwendolyn. Katherine Parkinson is known for her down-to-earth personality and her commitment to charity work. She is a patron of the charity The Felix Project, which provides meals to homeless people in London.
