Mini Biography

Born: 17 June 1982, Skelmanthorpe, West Yorkshire, England. 

Jodie Whittaker grew up in a family of actors and performers, which inspired her to pursue a career in acting from a young age.

Whittaker studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she honed her skills and developed her craft. She made her acting debut in 2005 with a small role in the film “Venus,” which starred Peter O’Toole. She then went on to appear in several British television shows, including “Dalziel and Pascoe,” “The Street,” and “Black Mirror.”

In 2013, Jodie Whittaker received critical acclaim for her performance in the film “Broadchurch,” in which she played the mother of a murdered child. The success of the show led to her being cast as the first female Doctor in the long-running British science fiction series “Doctor Who” in 2017. Her portrayal of the iconic character was widely praised, and she became a role model for young girls around the world.

Outside of acting, Whittaker is known for her philanthropic work and activism. She is a patron of the charity “Action for Children,” which supports vulnerable children and families in the UK. She is also an advocate for gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights, and has spoken out about the importance of representation in the media.
