Born:  July 30, 1966, Albrighton, Shropshire, England.

Jason Watkins spent his early years in Albrighton until his family relocated to Wolverhampton when he was seven. His father, Alan, worked as a metallurgist at Marston’s Brewery in Wolverhampton, while his mother was a teacher at Albrighton’s primary school. Watkins attributes his foray into the world of entertainment to his clowning lessons in Bridgnorth, where he learned from mime artist Ben Benison, who was also a presenter on the television program Vision On.

Jason Watkins’ career spans over three decades and encompasses a wide range of roles across various mediums. He made his professional stage debut in 1992 with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

In the early years of his career, Watkins appeared in notable television dramas such as “Our Friends in the North” and “Tipping the Velvet”.

However, it was his portrayal of Christopher Jefferies in the critically acclaimed drama series “The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies” that brought him widespread acclaim and recognition. This compelling performance earned him a BAFTA Television Award for Best Actor in 2015, solidifying his status as a highly talented and respected actor.
