Holliday Grainger is an English actress who has appeared in various films, television shows, and stage productions. She was born to a graphic designer mother and a father who divorced when she was young. She has Italian ancestry from her maternal grandfather.
Holliday Grainger began acting at the age of five, when she was scouted for a BBC series. She continued to work as a child actor, appearing in shows such as Casualty, Doctors, and Where the Heart Is. She attended Parrs Wood High School and later studied English literature at the University of Leeds and the Open University.
Holliday Grainger’s breakthrough role was as Lucrezia Borgia in the Showtime series The Borgias, which ran from 2011 to 2013. She starred alongside Jeremy Irons, who played her father, Pope Alexander VI. The series was created by Neil Jordan and filmed in Hungary.
Holliday Grainger has also played several roles in film adaptations of classic novels, such as Jane Eyre, Great Expectations, Anna Karenina, and The Finest Hours. She portrayed Estella, the love interest of Pip, in Mike Newell’s version of Great Expectations, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012. She also played Cinderella’s stepsister Anastasia Tremaine in Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella in 2015.
Holliday Grainger has also shown her versatility in different genres, such as crime, comedy and horror. She played Bonnie Parker in the 2013 miniseries Bonnie & Clyde, which was based on the real-life outlaw couple. She also played one of the female leads in The Riot Club, a film about an elite Oxford society, and appeared in the vampire film Hello Darkness.
Holliday Grainger has also been active on stage, performing in plays such as Disassociation, Three Sisters, and The Changeling. She has received positive reviews for her acting skills and stage presence.
Holliday Grainger is in a relationship with actor Harry Treadaway, whom she met on the set of The Borgias. They have been together since 2015 and have two children. Grainger is also friends with actresses Jessica Brown-Findlay, Vanessa Kirby and Lily James.
