Emily Blunt is a English actress who has won a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and has been nominated for an Academy Award and four British Academy Film Awards. She is one of the highest-paid actresses in the world and has starred in various genres of films, from comedy to thriller to musical.

Emily Blunt was born to a former actress and a barrister. She has three siblings, one of whom is married to actor Stanley Tucci. She suffered from a severe stutter as a child, which she overcame with the help of a teacher who encouraged her to act. She attended a private school and a college that specialised in performing arts.
Emily Blunt began her acting career on stage, appearing in plays such as The Royal Family and Romeo and Juliet. She made her screen debut in the television film Boudica (2003) and the miniseries Henry VIII (2003). She gained recognition for her role in the drama My Summer of Love (2004), which won her an Evening Standard British Film Award.
Emily Blunt’s breakthrough came in 2006, when she played a cynical assistant in the comedy The Devil Wears Prada, opposite Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. She received a Golden Globe nomination and a BAFTA nomination for her performance. She also won a Golden Globe for her role in the television film Gideon’s Daughter (2006).

Emily Blunt continued to impress critics and audiences with her versatility and range, starring in films such as The Young Victoria (2009), The Adjustment Bureau (2011), Looper (2012), Edge of Tomorrow (2014) and Into the Woods (2014). She earned critical acclaim for her roles in Sicario (2015), The Girl on the Train (2016) and A Quiet Place (2018), the latter of which she co-starred with her husband John Krasinski, who also directed the film. She also played the iconic character of Mary Poppins in the sequel Mary Poppins Returns (2018).
Emily Blunt has been married to Krasinski since 2010, and they have two daughters. She became a naturalised American citizen in 2015, while retaining her British citizenship. She is involved in charitable work, especially for the American Institute for Stuttering, of which she is a board member. She is also an advocate for environmental causes and women’s rights.
