Emilia Clarke has become a household name through her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series “Game of Thrones.” Her performance in the series earned her international acclaim and four Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Clarke’s early interest in acting was sparked at the age of three after watching a musical. This passion led her to study at the Drama Centre London, where she appeared in several stage productions.
Emilia Clarke’s early life was spent in Oxfordshire, where she was born to a theatre sound engineer father and a businesswoman mother. She has an older brother who also works in the entertainment industry. Clarke has an unexpected heritage, with Anglo-Indian roots stemming from a secret affair between her great-grandmother and a man from the Indian subcontinent.
