Born 19 May 1992, London, England.

Eleanor Tomlinson was born in London, during her childhood, she and her family relocated to Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. Her parents, Judith Hibbert and Malcolm Tomlinson, played significant roles in shaping her artistic journey. Judith is a singer, while Malcolm is an actor and horse racing commentator. Moreover, Eleanor’s brother, Ross Tomlinson, follows in the family’s creative footsteps as an actor as well.

Tomlinson received her education at Beverley High School, however, her commitment to acting led her to be homeschooled during her teenage years, allowing her to focus on auditions and learning her craft.

Tomlinson’s career took off in the early 2000s when she landed her first notable role in the film “The Illusionist” (2006), starring alongside renowned actors such as Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti. Her portrayal of Young Sophie, the love interest of Edward Norton’s character, was well received.

In 2015, Tomlinson gained widespread recognition when she was cast as the fiery and independent character of Demelza Poldark in the BBC historical drama series “Poldark.” Her compelling performance in the show, which ran for five seasons, earned her both a dedicated fan base and much critical praise.

Outside of her acting career Eleanor Tomlinson has expressed her love for animals and her support for animal rights causes. She married rugby player Will Owen in 2022 and the couple welcomed their first child in February 2025.
