Daniel Sharman was born and raised in Hackney, London. He started acting at the age of nine, when he auditioned for the Royal Shakespeare Company and was selected for two plays. He attended Mill Hill School and the Arts Educational School, where he performed in several theatrical productions. He then studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, graduating with honours in 2007.
Sharman’s first feature film role was in The Last Days of Edgar Harding, in which he played a musician. In 2011, he was cast as Ares, the Greek god of war, in the fantasy film Immortals. He also starred in the horror film The Collection in 2012. His television credits include Judge John Deed, Inspector Lewis, Starting Over, and When Calls the Heart.
He gained popularity for his role as Isaac Lahey, a werewolf, in the MTV series Teen Wolf from 2012 to 2014. He left the show to pursue other opportunities and joined The Originals as Kaleb Westphall, a witch possessed by the original vampire Kol Mikaelson, in 2014.
He also narrated the audiobook of Clockwork Princess, the final installment of the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare, in 2013.
Sharman has also appeared in Fear the Walking Dead as Troy Otto, a survivalist leader, in 2017 and 2023. He played Lorenzo de’ Medici, the ruler of Florence, in the historical drama Medici: The Magnificent in 2018. He currently stars as the Weeping Monk, a mysterious warrior, in the Netflix series Cursed, based on the Arthurian legend, since 2020.
Daniel Sharman lives in Los Angeles and London. He has been in relationships with several actresses, including Crystal Reed, Asha Leo, and Gigi Hadid. He is also a fan of Arsenal F.C. and enjoys playing football.
