Mini Biography
Born: 16 March 1963, Bromley, Kent, England.
Jerome Flynn emerged from a family steeped in the arts. His father, Eric Flynn, was a renowned actor and singer, while his mother, Fern Flynn, dedicated her life to drama teaching. This rich artistic environment undoubtedly influenced the young Flynn, laying the groundwork for a future in the entertainment industry.
Following in his parents’ footsteps, Flynn developed a keen interest in acting from a young age. He attended the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where he refined his skills and laid the foundation for a successful career. While at school, Flynn excelled not only in acting but also in sports, particularly rugby, demonstrating his versatile nature and athleticism.
Jerome Flynn’s breakthrough came in the early 1990s with his portrayal of Corporal Paddy Garvey in the popular ITV series “Soldier Soldier.” The show catapulted him to stardom, earning him a dedicated fanbase.
However, Flynn’s talents extended beyond acting. Alongside his co-star, Robson Green, he formed the musical duo Robson & Jerome, which took the world by storm. Their rendition of “Unchained Melody” became a global sensation, topping charts and selling millions of records. The unexpected musical success brought Flynn unprecedented fame and a diverse range of opportunities.
While the music career was a significant chapter, Flynn’s passion for acting remained unwavering. He returned to the screen with compelling roles in projects such as “Ripper Street,” where he portrayed the enigmatic Bennet Drake, and the critically acclaimed “Game of Thrones,” in which he brought the cunning mercenary Bronn to life.
Jerome Flynn and Lena Headey, co-stars on “Game of Thrones” , were previously in a relationship. Rumours surfaced suggesting a contentious breakup that led to the actors being kept apart on set. However, Flynn dismissed these claims, asserting that he and Headey had shared a scene together and remained on speaking terms. He criticised the media for fabricating such stories, emphasising Headey’s professionalism and character.
Jerome Flynn and fellow actor and musician Johnny Flynn are half brothers.
