Born: 13 December 1949, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, England. 

Robert Lindsay gained recognition for his portrayal of the charismatic revolutionary “Wolfie” Smith in the sitcom “Citizen Smith.” His comedic timing and captivating presence made him a household name during the show’s run from 1977 to 1980.

In the gripping drama mini-series “G.B.H.” (1991), Lindsay showcased his versatility as he portrayed Michael Murray, a corrupt politician locked in a power struggle. This compelling performance earned him critical acclaim and further solidified his reputation as an accomplished actor.

Lindsay’s talent extended to period dramas as well. In the renowned TV adaptation of C.S. Forester’s novels about Horatio Hornblower, titled “Hornblower,” he brought Captain Pellew to life with conviction and authority.
