Mini Biography

Born: 27 January 1993, Plymouth, England. 

Freddy Carter had a diverse upbringing that shaped his passion for acting. While he spent a significant part of his childhood in Somerset, his father’s military career led the family to move around, including stints in Cyprus and Virginia Beach.

Freddy’s older brother, Tom Austen, is also an actor, and together with their middle brother, they attended Queen’s College in Taunton for their education. It was during this time that Freddy’s love for acting began to take root.

At the age of 16, Freddy Carter witnessed a captivating production of “Jerusalem,” featuring the renowned actor Mark Rylance, in London. This experience served as a catalyst, inspiring him to pursue a career in acting.

Following his passion, Freddy went on to receive formal training in acting at the Oxford School of Drama. Immersed in a rigorous program, he dedicated himself to honing his craft and graduated from the school in 2015, equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to embark on his professional acting journey.

Freddy Carter’s most prominent role to date came in 2021 when he portrayed the complex and enigmatic character of Kaz Brekker in the Netflix series “Shadow and Bone.” Based on the popular fantasy book series by Leigh Bardugo, Carter’s portrayal of the cunning and charismatic criminal mastermind earned him widespread acclaim and a dedicated fan base.
