Born: 30 April 1980, Balmaclellan, Scotland.Â
Growing up in a rural area of Scotland, Sam Heughan was exposed to the beauty of nature and developed a love for the outdoors. He attended Kells Primary School and later enrolled at James Gillespie’s High School in Edinburgh.

After completing his high school education, Heughan went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now known as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) in Glasgow. He graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting, laying the foundation for his future career in the performing arts.
Sam Heughan’s breakthrough role came in 2014 when he was cast as Jamie Fraser in the television adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s historical time-traveling series “Outlander.” His portrayal of the complex and charismatic character garnered critical acclaim and catapulted him to international fame. He has received several awards and nominations for his performance in the series, including a Saturn Award for Best Actor on Television.
While Heughan is known for his on-screen presence, he maintains a relatively private personal life. However, he has been vocal about his passion for fitness and outdoor activities. He is an active philanthropist, supporting various charitable organisations, including Bloodwise and Cahonas Scotland, which focus on cancer research and male cancer awareness, respectively.
